Turning 40 and Starting a Business
A month before I turned 40, I decided to leave Corporate America and start my own business. The idea had lingered in my mind for a few years but the timing was never quite right. Leaving a 15 year marketing career that focused on growing luxury brands such as BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, McClaren and Mercedes-Benz was no easy decision - not to mention the benefits of a steady paycheck, healthcare coverage and stability.
However, one day the opportunity arose, the light bulb turned on, the fear of uncertainty was put to the side and the decision was made - I would start my own chocolate company. Through this endeavor I was combining all my talents and passion into something that I was truly proud of and represented me as a woman. After weeks of brainstorming, planning, researching and testing I knew I had a one-of-a-kind product and brand.
My love for chocolate, creating and making things beautiful was shining through; my marketing expertise in brand development was on high and the business idea was quickly transforming itself into “Amor & Chocolate”. And while there is still a long road ahead to fulfill the vision, I find myself laughing, smiling, ideating, excited, nervous and enjoying every moment and that to me is priceless.
